Styrenic Foams for Insulation of Buildings

Styrenic Foams contribute significantly to the global CO2 emission reduction targets in the building sector.  Mainly for residential buildings as thermal insulation solution of the building envelop with a proven durability. Styrene is the basis for our polymer products Neopor®, Styropor® - both expandable polystyrene (EPS) - and the rigid insulation foam Styrodur®, extruded polystyrene (XPS).

Since 1951, BASF is passionate about Styrenics Foams and continuously developes the product portfolio further. Especially Neopor® and Styrodur® offer solutions for the construction industry that not only have outstanding thermal insulation properties and an excellent cost-ratio-benefit – we also offer products that help to reduce the CO2 footprint of your building.

Neopor®

With Neopor®, BASF has suceeded in further developing the insulation classic Styropor®. The grey insulation boards made from the expandable polystyrene (EPS) perform better than conventional EPS and set high standards of quality as many reference projects have shown.

Planners, architects and builder-owners benefit from insulation made of Neopor® because of the special advantages this material offers. They are crucial for the energy-efficiency, cost-effectivness and sustainability of construction projects.

Styropor®

Styropor®, an expandable polystyrene (EPS), was invented in 1951 by BASF and has become a classic among raw materials in the construction and packaging industry. Styropor® offers a large product portfolio with a wide range of applications. Whether for efficient construction or shock absorption and moisture insensitive packaging of products.
